Celery
sorbet is a healthy, low calorie and refreshing dessert with a
beautiful color and fun flavor, that takes only 10 minutes to make.
Benefits Of Celery:
Celery
is extremely low in calories but it provides antioxidants,
electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. It helps to prevent ulcers and
urinary tract infections, reduces inflammation and high blood
pressure , boosts immune system, relieve bloating and regulates the
body's alkaline balance. Celery also detoxifies the body due to its
hydrating properties. Keep in mind that celery is also one of the
most sprayed vegetables, so always buy organic when possible.
Warning: In a very large dose it may cause uterus contractions during
pregnancy.
Celery Sorbet Recipe:
This simple and light sorbet only requires 5 ingredients:
- celery stalks
(200 g)
- water (200 ml)
- sugar (3 tbsp)
- lemon juice (3 tbsp)
- fresh mint leaves (7-10 small leaves)
1.
Wash your celery and add it to your juicer. The darker the color of
celery, the stronger flavor. Collect the juice in its container and
discard the pulp. Add lemon to the juice.
2.
Place the water, sugar and mint in a saucepan, cook over medium heat
and stir until sugar is dissolved. Get it to boiling point, turn off
the heat and leave it to cool completely. Take out the mint leaves.
After
cooling mix it with juice.
3.
Pour the mixture into a shallow and freezer safe container and place
in freezer. Freeze for one hour then stir the sorbet with a fork to
break up the crystals. Put it back in freezer. Repeat the stirring
every half an hour until it is completely firm and frozen.
4.
Let it sit out for a few minutes to soften up before scooping out and
serving.
If
you don't have a juicer, first make the sugar syrup (step 2). Put it
into a blender, add washed celery stalks and lemon juice. Blend it,
strain the mixture and freeze it.
There
are only 50 calories in 100 grams of celery sorbet.
